GB Signs’ Andy Draper runs 10k race for charity
Well done to Andy Draper, a member of our graphics team who ran the Wilmslow 10k in aid of Marie Curie last weekend.
Andy – an avid runner who was taking part in his first race for 18 months – ran the circuit in an impressive 58:08, raising over £200 in the process.
Marie Curie provides care for terminally ill people, with many of the patients they tend to battling cancer and requiring end-of-life treatment, as well as emotional support. The charity relies heavily on donations from the public, and after losing two of his grandparents to the disease, Andy is delighted that his efforts have helped raise funds for an initiative close to his heart.
“Both of my Nans died from cancer and, towards the end, their local hospices provided help. So it’s nice to be able to give something back.”
The events take place year-round, and Andy already has his sights set on one of next year’s races, where he hopes he can raise even more in sponsorship for the charity.
“Hopefully I’m going to sign up for the York one next year. I believe it’s a nice race running through the city as it’s a nice place so I’m looking at doing that one.”
Well done, Andy – you did GB Signs proud! If you’d like to donate to his cause, his funding page is still open and you can access it at https://www.facebook.com/donate/1113043312197670/
