The Heath- Custom Built Signage
The Heath is a business and technical site located near Runcorn in Cheshire. It provides flexible office accommodation, laboratory facilities and extensive conference facilities.
SOG Ltd. who owned and operated the site at the time, commissioned the architectural design of identity and directional signage. Of the manufacturers contacted to quote, only Green Brothers Signs LTD were able to meet the technical challenge presented by the design concept.
The Sign Package
The signage package began with landmark identity signs at the North and South entrances. These bespoke feature signs measured 2400x 2800mm and comprised of a brushed stainless steel frame with a stainless steel mesh face.
The Heath leaf logo, which sits centred on the mesh, was laser cut from 3mm brushed stainless steel, with individual letters fixed to the face in 6mm black painted aluminium. The logo was illuminated by a built-up Opal Acrylic ring, faced with mirror polished stainless steel, which was fixed to the face of the leaf and internally illuminated using LEDs.
Secondary external signage continues the steel-mesh theme. These sail shaped signs use a brushed stainless steel post and edging profile to support the stainless steel mesh, and are complete with He Heath leaf logo and directional text. The text is fixed onto a brushed stainless steel panel which is fitted to the mesh, and is made up from individual letters and arrows in aluminium, painted to a semi- gloss finish.
Internal signage begins at Reception, with an identity reception sign set into a recess on the reception desk. This sign continues the identity theme from external signage, with a polished stainless steel frame complete with mesh panel supporting The Heath identity. We also installed curved, interchangeable directory signs at the main lift entrance.
Unit identity signage was manufactured from fluorescent orange acrylic with polished edges, complete with applied vinyl tenant identity text. The signs were mounted on the door canopies using satin anodised stand-off fixings.
Other signage within the site included wall-mounted display boards at the restaurant facility. These signs incorporate clip-frame menu cases on a DiBond panel, complete with flat-cut DiBond individual identity letters and applied vinyl ‘opening Hours’ text.
The overall effect was a cohesive and contemporary design package.
